In SW Montana, Brower’s Spring is considered to be the ultimate headwaters of the Missouri River. Brower’s Spring feeds Red Rock Creek which becomes Red Rock River. After flowing through a couple of lakes and into Clark Canyon Reservoir, the Beaverhead River flows joining the Big Hole River that then joins the Jefferson River. The confluence of the Jefferson, Madison & Gallatin Rivers is the official beginning of the Missouri River. From Brower’s Spring to the Missouri River is 298.3 miles. The Missouri then travels 2,540 miles where it joins the Mississippi River in St. Louis. The Missouri is the longest river in the United States.

I begin my blog with this story for 2 reasons. First, Brower’s Spring is only about 100 miles from my home in Hamilton, MT. Second, I’m hopeful my blog will be the beginning of a great journey for me personally. First there will be blog, then writings, then articles, and finally a book or two or three. Life is like a box of chocolates … you never know.
This first blog also coincides with the launching of my new and improved website. The website has been completely reworked with several new sections including Why Steve?, How it Works, & FAQs … all with lots of new information and content. And in addition to this Blog, there is a Calendar, new videos and many new pictures. Special thanks to Jana, Dani & Mike at Bigfork Web for their great ideas, professionalism and hard work.
Because I’m a speaker who focuses onPersonal Responsibility and how PR affects both our professional and personal lives … I’ve decided my Blog will be published 2 times per week – Monday and Thursday. Monday’s blog will be a business topic to coincide with the start of the traditional work week. Thursday’s blog will be more free form and focus on life in general, recreation or having fun. My goal is to achieve the balance in my writings just as each of us strive for balance between work, professional lives, family, community, fun, and recreation.
While I don’t want to be too rigid in form this blog ultimately takes, I’ll attempt to keep my bi-weekly blog focused & succinct and no longer than 400 to 500 words. Short and sweet! From time-to-time, I also plan to post longer articles or writings. I expect these to be special or supplemental posting to my normal postings.
As I start my journey with this blog, it would be audacious to believe a single blog could lead to a body of writings as grand as the Missouri. So I’ll purposely not compare myself to Brower’s Spring … rather, I’ll just let my thoughts bubble and trickle and form whatever puddle, stream or pond that develops.
