Life Lessons from the movie Forrest Gump (w/ movie poster)

The movie Forrest Gump touched, moved, and inspired people 20+ years ago. The life lessons from the movie are just as relevant today as they were back in 1994. They give the movie it’s timeless nature.

This series is dedicated to listing the many life lessons from the movie that we can incorporate into our daily lives to feel more peace and love … and to live our lives with Gumption.

It’s Up To You

“What?s my destiny, Momma?”, asked Forrest to his mother as she lay on her deathbed.

Momma told Forrest firmly, yet kindly, “You’re gonna have to figure that out for yourself.”

It’s up to you.

We all want to be told the answer.

We all want others to decide for us.

We all want someone else to take responsibility for the choices that only we must make.

It’s up to you.

It’s up to each and every single one of us.

We get to decide.

We get to choose.

We get to take responsibility for our own lives.

It’s up to you.

Ironically …

When others do tells us what to do we resent it.

When others try to decide for us we resist.

When others attempt to take responsibility from us we revolt.

It’s up to you.

What’s your destiny?

“You’re gonna have to figure it out for yourself.”

It’s up to you.
