Uncertainty – Staying Positive
Life is like a box of chocolates … you never know what you’re gonna get.

We all know that famous line from the movie Forrest Gump. And we might recall that it was Forrest’s mother who taught him that.
My mama always said …
As a little boy, Forrest faced several challenges.
- He wore braces on his legs
- He had a low IQ
- He didn’t have a father in his life
- The other kids made fun of him and called him names
Mama Gump taught Forrest that life was like a box of chocolates … ya never know what you’re gonna get. It was a way for a little boy to remain positive in the face of uncertainty and disappointment.
Having a positive mindset allows us to overcome life’s setbacks and disappointments. Mama Gump did Forrest a great service by instilling in him a sense of optimism. She encouraged him to see the good in people and situations. She taught him how to let go of his frustration, disappointments, and anger.
Life is like a box of chocolates was the affirmation Forrest used to deal with the uncertainty of life. Life’s setbacks. Life’s trials and tribulations.
What do you tell yourself to remain positive in the face of life’s uncertainties, setbacks, and disappointments?
