Excessively Patient, Excessively Persistent

Are you persevering in finding the balance between patience and persistence? While not being excessive? Photo Credit: Zazzle.com

My last post correlated how patience and persistence, while seemingly opposites, are linked together by your goals.

Being both patient and persistent is required to achieve your dreams, goals, and/or objectives.

That said … is it possible to be too patient? … or too persistent?

Absolutely.

The excessively patient person learns to regularly take ‘No’ for an answer.
The excessively patient person entertains excuses far too often.
The excessively patient person allows others to set the agenda.
The excessively patient person gives up win-win for lose-win.
The excessively patient person is left standing on the dock when the shrimp boat sets out to sea.

Likewise …

The excessively persistent person is annoying and doesn’t have the ability to hear others.
The excessively persistent person doesn’t respect other people’s boundaries.
The excessively persistent person only knows his or her agenda.
The excessively persistent person gives up win-win for win-lose.
The excessively persistent person gets thrown off the boat – either literally or figuratively.

Balancing patience and persistence is a necessary trick.

How good is your magic?
Are you missing opportunities because of your excessive patience?
Do people think you’re boorish because of your excessive persistence?
