Do You Ever Dream About Who You’re Going To Be? (Part 2)

When I sold my dream property, a vacuum formed ? a big piece of my ?why? went missing.
When I sold my dream property, a vacuum formed … a big piece of my ‘why’ went missing.

Jenny: “Do you ever dream, Forrest, about who you’re going to be?”
Forrest: “Who I’m going to be? … Aren’t I going to be me?”
Jenny: “You’ll always be you, just another kind of you.

Dreaming big is what has kept me going.
Dreaming of becoming another kind of me is what gets me fired up in the morning.
Dreaming of being someone new is what motivates me on a daily basis.
Dreaming big gets me through the grind.

What happens when reality and dreams collide?

Ten years ago, my big dream was to move to Montana.
I had a twenty-two-acre piece of land with a spectacular view of the Bitterroot Mountains.
My big dream included building my dream house on that foothill.

I did move to Montana five years ago.
I continued to hold on to the land and on to the dream house dream.
That was my big dream.
That’s the another kind of me of me I dreamed about becoming.

Four years ago, my speculative real estate holdings met reality.
In the meantime, a new dream of building a speaking business was unfolding.
One big dream collided with another big dream – reality dictated that choices be made.

Last fall, I sold the land.
A nice couple from town, now friends, purchased the land and are now building their dream house.
I continue to pursue my speaking business dream.

Letting go of one big dream was difficult.
Letting go of that big dream left a vacuum.
Pursuing my speaking business without a new big dream was … a grind.
My why was missing.

Big dreams help keep us motivated on a daily basis.
Big dreams help get us fired up in the morning.
Big dreams are our why.

Here’s the good news – a new big dream is now taking shape.
My why is again becoming clear.
I’m dreaming about the another kind of me I plan to be.
Stay tuned … this is good!

Do you ever dream about who you’re going to be?

Part 1 here.
