As the people get used to the results of our country’s election, it occurs to me that campaigning and governing are two entirely different things. And there’s a lesson in the way we run our own lives.

Campaigns are about:
- Promising
- Creating a vision
- The future
- Demonizing (stating what we don’t like)
Governing is about:
- Leading
- Delivering
- Today
- Continuing to create a vision
It’s impossible to govern if you don’t first campaign.
It’s unlikely you’ll be able to successfully govern if you don’t focus on leading and delivering what you promised. Today.
Governing successfully still requires you to campaign some percentage of the time? … 10%? … 25%? …
In our own lives, we mostly need to govern – i.e. take care of business today. But you’ll never create a better future is you don’t personally campaign for it.
Our lives are a mirror of what we just witnessed in the Presidential election. Campaign and advocate for change, then get down to work and deliver what you promised. Today.
