I Can Run Like The Wind Blows
0:16:58
The scene begins with Forrest, seated on the bench, exclaiming that he can run like the wind blows, and then several scenes of him running all around town and Greenbow County.
**-- HERE IS THE VIDEO TRANSCRIPT --** Now you wouldn't believe it I told you, but I can run like the wind blows. Hi, I'm Steve Weber ... Now you would believe it if I told you ... but I've had about a million interactions with people as Forrest Gump. It's true, I sat on the bench for 15 years and talked to lots of you. And you know what I discovered? You guys think this is one of the greatest movies of all-time - I do too. It's not bragging, if you can do it. When Forrest said, "Now you wouldn't believe it if I told you, but I can run like the wind blows."... he wasn't bragging. We're often told not to brag. And at first glance, Forrest's comment might seem braggadocios. Forrest could run. Forrest did run everywhere he was going. Forrest was a running fool. It's not bragging if you can do what you say. Forrest could run like the wind blows. We see a confidence in Forrest that prior to this scene wasn't evident. It takes Gumption to believe fully in yourself. If you can do something well, don't be shy, let people know. It's not bragging if you can do what you say. Let's all be more gump-like ... let's stand tall for the things we do well ... and let's all live our lives with Gumption.
