A Voice From the Past - Lt. Dan

Today is scene 76 on our countdown to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the movie Forrest Gump. Have you ever heard a voice from your past and instantly recognized who that person was? When Forrest walked out the back door after appearing on the Dick Cavett show, he heard a voice from his past. He immediately recognized the voice of Lt. Dan. Forrest was quite happy to see Lt. Dan. Lt. Dan - while physically healed - was still in a dark place. His emotional wounds were still quite raw. Lt. Dan was angry. Forrest, none-the-less, was happy to see his old friend. Forrest was happy to hear the voice of his old friend from the past. Lt. Dan was angry ... but that didn't dampen Forrest's joy. It takes Gumption to overlook the anger and hurtful things other people say. Forrest had Gumption and didn't take it personally. Let's all be more gump-like ... let's all be more tolerant and understanding of others ... let's all live our lives with Gumption.
