Pray For Shrimp

1:34:04
Forrest and Lt. Dan are seen on the deck of the shrimp boat opening their empty net. No shrimp, only some garbage. Lt. Dan tells Forrest to pray. We then see the duo in the Baptist church with Forrest singing in the choir.
**-- HERE IS THE VIDEO TRANSCRIPT --** Why don't you pray for shrimp. Since I was a little boy, I've been praying ... and asking God for help. I'm Steve Weber and one gift God gave me is the gift of Gumption, the gift of the movie Forrest Gump, and the gift of this unique platform to share my ideas about one of the world's greatest movies. I'm doing this to celebrate the movie's upcoming 25th anniversary. Prayer is when we ask for help from a Higher Power. From the Universe, or from our God. When Forrest pleaded with Lt. Dan and asked, "Where are we gonna find shrimp?" ... Lt. Dan suggested Forrest pray for shrimp. We often think of prayer as part of a religious activity .. Which it is. I view prayer as a human activity - A way for individuals to connect with the Universe in a way beyond the 5 senses. I find prayer comforting and restorative. When Forrest went to church, and joined the choir - I'm guessing he found it both comforting and restorative. Forrest was praying. He engaged in prayer. We sense he had a strong belief in his God. It takes Gumption to ask for help. It takes Gumption to be vulnerable in front of our God. Let's all be more gump-like, let's ask the Universe or God for help, let's all live our lives with Gumption.
