What's Vacation Mean?

0:09:39
Mama is reading a book to Forrest, we can can see Forrest not really listening to her when he suddenly asks, "What's vacation means?". He wants to know about his daddy ... and why he doesn't live with him and mama.
**-- HERE IS THE VIDEO TRANSCRIPT --** Vacation is when you go someplace and never come back. Hi, I'm Steve Weber and mama didn't give Forrest the exact standard dictionary definition of vacation. Today's scene is #49 and it shows young Forrest wanting to know about his daddy. I've put together a series of 94 of the best scenes and corresponding life lesson to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the movie Forrest Gump. Here is scene 49 and Forrest wants to know where is daddy is. When Forrest asked Mama what vacation means, he was really asking about his daddy. Explanations to a child need to be handled delicately. You need to tell them something that is close to the truth, but you can't always tell them the whole truth. This is especially true when you, the adult, don't understand all of the story yourself. It technically wasn't the definition of a vacation. Mama told Forrest the truth that his daddy went away and wasn't coming back. Not the definition of vacation - but a good explanation for a child. It takes Gumption to be a parent. To teach your child the truth in a way that makes sense to their young minds. Do you want to be more gump-like? ... Speak the truth to your children and to all people in a way that makes sense. Let's learn to live our lives with Gumption.
