Little White Lies
Forrest is talking to Bubba at Bubba's grave. He explains the 'little white lie' he told to earn the $25,000 for advertising a ping-pong paddle. He didn't really use that paddle, but it was just a 'little white lie'.
**-- HERE IS THE VIDEO TRANSCRIPT --** Little White Lies are sometimes part of what we have to do. Hi, I'm Steve Weber and I told the little white lie that I was the 'real' Forrest Gump while I sat on the bench for 15 yrs for Bubba Gump. Today, my job is to bring you scene 43 of the 94 best scenes from the movie Forrest Gump as we celebrate the movie's 25th anniversary. Forrest received $25,000 from the Flex-o-lite ping-pong paddle to advertise their brand. Mama told Forrest, it's just a little white lie, everyone knows it isn't true. It's not hurting anyone. Advertising is based on little white lies. You'll be more attractive. You're clothes will smell better. You'll have more fun. Everyone will be jealous of you in your new car. Little white lies. In real life, Forrest wasn't the kind of guy who told lies to his friends, colleagues, family members. He was a man of integrity. So we can forgive Forrest when he said, "When I was China on the all-American ping-pong team, I just loved playing ping-pong with my Flex-o-lite ping-pong paddle" ... It's just a little white lie. Do you want to be more gump-like? ... Be a person of integrity ... fess up to the little white lies you tell like Forrest did. Accept that sometimes life and and our jobs require us to stretch the truth. Let's learn to live our lives with Gumption.
