Today's scene is number 41 of 94 of the movie Forrest Gump as we count down to the 25th anniversary of the movie on July 6, 2019. I'm Steve Weber and I've created these life lessons from the best movie scenes to pay tribute to one of America's greatest movies. Lt. Dan was ready for a showdown. Lt. Dan versus the storm. Lt. Dan versus God. Lt. Dan had a lot of anger stored up inside him for several years. Since he joined Forrest as 1st Mate, he was slowly recovering from the emotional wounds he suffered - but he wasn't fully recovered. The storm was a catalyst. Lt Dan let his anger out against God. He challenged God. He dared God to sink the boat. It was time for a showdown. Psychiatrists tells us that emotional healing involves many steps. Lt. Dan's emotional outburst and confrontation with God and the the storm was surely part of his healing process. It takes Gumption to emotionally heal from life's wounds. It takes Gumption to release the anger we have stored up inside of us. Lt. Dan had Gumption. Do you want to be more gump-like? ... Let go of anger that you have stored up inside of you.
