I Want To Go Home

0:55:38
Forrest and Bubba say goodbye to each other for the final time next to the river in Vietnam.
**-- HERE IS THE VIDEO TRANSCRIPT --** I want to go home. Those were the last words spoken by Bubba. One of the reasons the movie Forrest Gump rang true to so many people is that it both celebrated the joy of life and the acknowledged the sadness of death. I'm Steve Weber and today's scene #39 shows Forrest saying good-bye to his friend Bubba for the last time. For those who believe in a God. In an afterlife. Home is heaven. Bubba may have been referring to his home in Bayou la Batre. Or he may have been talking about heaven. It clearly made an impression on Forrest. He said he'd never forget Bubba's final words. "I want to go home." It takes Gumption to realize that in any given moment or situation, you may be having the final conversation you'll ever have with a person. It takes Gumption to be present, even when you'd rather not be facing the reality of that present moment. Do you want to be more gump-like? ... Be present, pay attention when you're speaking with someone. Honor another person's words. Let's learn to live our lives with Gumption.
