When Forrest runs down the football field, Coach Bear Bryant sees talent. The local high school coach only sees the local idiot
**-- HERE IS THE VIDEO TRANSCRIPT --** Sometimes, we miss what's right in front of us. Hi, today's scene is all about seeing what might be already right in front of you in a new way. I'm Steve Weber and I've created this series of 94 best movie scenes and life lessons from the movie Forrest Gump to celebrate it's 25th anniversary. Here is scene #27. When Forrest ran down the football field, the visiting recruiting coach saw raw talent. He saw speed. He saw someone who could help his team win football games. The local high school coach watched Forrest - the same person the recruiting coach saw - run down the same field. But the high school coach only saw what he though he knew. He only saw Forrest as the local idiot. He had the fastest kid right in his own back yard and yet he failed to take advantage of Forrest's talents. Are you so used to looking at something one way, that you fail to see what that something's potential? It takes Gumption to look at things you're used to seeing in new way. It takes Gumption to NOT miss what might be right in front of you. Do you want to be more gump-like? ... Try looking at something you think you already know and understand in a new way. Try seeing potential instead of just seeing the local idiot. Let's learn to live our lives with Gumption.
