Nike Cortez – Journey of Life
The Nike Cortez shoe represent the Journey of Life and Life Chapters in Steve’s Live Your Life with Gumption philosophy.
The movie Forrest Gump chronicles Forrest’s life. First as a boy going to school and getting braces fitted on his legs. Running from the bully schoolboys as both a boy and teenager. Going to college. Playing football. Joining the army. Visiting the White House – 3 times! Playing pinp-pong. Buying a shrimp boat and starting his shrimpin’ business. Running across America. Burying Bubba, Momma, and finally Jenny. Learning he’s a father. Becoming a loving and caring father.
Forrest’s life chapters all perfectly started and perfectly ended.
The magic of the movies.
Our own lives have many life chapters that start and end. They overlap each other. Some start and stop dramatically like marriage, the birth of a child, or starting a new job. Many just fade away until one day we realize that a particular chapter is now over. And unlike the movie, we don’t simply have only one chapter going, we have multiple chapters running simultaneously. We have a job and a marriage. We have family. We’re parents. We’re brothers, sisters, and friends to others.
Forrest famously said, “I’ve worn lots of shoes.”
Steve believes that knowing where you are in life’s journey, knowing which chapter you’re currently involved, knowing what shoes you’re currently wearing – gives you the freedom to make choices about where you want to go next.
Knowing where you are in life’s journey gives you the ability to see new opportunities that float like feathers into your life.
Knowing what life chapters you’re currently living gives you the freedom to let go of the feathers that no longer serve you. Letting go gives you the freedom to pick up life’s next feather – or opportunity – and move powerfully into a new life chapter.
