Steve has reinvented himself sixteen significant times throughout his life. From paper boy at age 11 to Forrest Gump at age 37. He moved to CA at age 22 and to Montana at age 49 – both times alone. In the last eight years Steve have reinvented himself from entertainer to speaker to host to change ambassador – now he’s all four. Throughout his life, Steve has initiated a major change approximately every 3-4 years. While a few of these changes have been major stumbles, the vast majority have been solid stepping stones. One change leads directly to the next opportunity. Steve imagines many more changes to come in the final third of his life.
His message is personal responsibility – he calls it Gumption. People who live their lives with Gumption take 100% personal responsibility. Steve likes to deliver his message in combination with your message of change. Where do you want to go? Where do you need to go? Your message of change combined with Gumption is what Steve most passionately promotes. He communicates with a purpose and purposefully. Take personal responsibility and make a difference.

He has the ability to make people feel important whether it’s the CEO, the new person you hired last week, a meeting planner, another speaker, an typical conference attendee, or the hotel wait staff. When people feel important, their performance rises.

Steve is self-confident and participates actively with the highest level thinkers. He wants the best for others. He encourages, cajoles, and prompts others to find their own excellence. Steve has never searched for nor taken the traditional path. It’s all about new ideas and execution. Steve can be reticent. He will restrain his emotions and contain his inner thoughts until he is ready to share them. He’s often one of the last to speak but frequently comes up with a great idea. This skill is invaluable for providing new energy when normal fatigue occurs.

Steve was given a gift from his parents. He calls it genetic luck. Since 1981 he’s been told he looks like Tom Hanks. Thousands have asked, “Do you know who you look like?” Steve has taken his gift of genetic luck and gives back by helping others change. Gump breaks down barriers. Gump is truth serum. Gump is the gift Steve received from the Creator. Sharing his gift with others is Steve’s purpose.
